15 fights lined up for ROP VI: Conviction

Trench Tech will kick off the 2009 season with 15 featured bouts in the Rites of Passage VI: Conviction, which will be held at Saipan World Resort’s Royal Taga Hall on Jan. 24.

Next weekend’s ROP VI will have Marianas Elite’s Maitai ‘The Charger” Charley colliding with Ryan “The Dentist” Urquizu of Guam’s Fight to Win! in the main event.

Urquizu and Charley agreed to fight in the 150-lb. division for the heavyweight bout with the former enjoying a better record of 12 wins and four losses. Charley holds a 3-4 slate.

In the semi main event, Marianas Elite’s Syl “The Deal” Teregeyo will challenge 185-lb. Frank “Shotgun” Manglona of Team Guam.

Manglona boasts an unbeaten 3-0 record, while Teregeyo has a 4-3 mark.

Thirteen other supporting bouts are featured in Trech Tech’s initial offering for 2009.

Fiden Teregeyo of Independent and Ray Apiag of Team Guam will have their debut fight when they duel in the 145-lb. bout.

Jacob Ilo of Zalaka will also debut against fellow first-timer Vince Masga of Trench Tech in the 140-lb fight.

Jordan Ogo of Team Haga will go for his second win in as many bouts when he meets Pwang’s Eddie Paulis.

Three other Team Haga fighters will have their debuts with Stanley Go facing Mark “The Dark” Nuque of Trench Tech (1-0), Daniel Ogo challenging Kevin Esteves (0-1) of Marianas Elite, and John Ogo squaring off with Trench Tech’s Seung Min Lee.

Two DAT Gym fighters will see action in their first bout with E.J. Palacios debuting against Dino Mettao, who lost his first fight. Palacios’ teammate Francisco Palacios will duel Marianas Elite’s Martin Ayuyu, who holds a 1-2 record.

The 145-lb. bout will also feature debuting fighters in Joe “Bad Manners” Aldan of Predators and Peter Boy Alvarez of MTM Guam.

Pwang’s Regal Mality hopes to improve his 0-2 record when he faces MTM Guam’s Robert A. Baza, who will be making his debut in ROP VI.

Extreme’s Marvin Somol and Trench Tech USA’s Kyle Peterson will go for win No. 2 when they battle the debuting Barry Mality and George Cruz, respectively.

The 140-lb. bout will be a CNMI vs. Guam affair as Marianas Elite’s Derek “Pinchi” Rangamar meets Tony “The Wrech” Reyes of Spike 22 Guam.

Tickets for the event are now being sold at Boarderline Skate Shop, 670 Rock Steady, Han Nam Market in Koblerville, Kagman Mobil, and Pacific Trading Co. at $20 each.
