Decorated general to speak at ESGR’s Gala
TUMON, Guam—Decorated soldier and Army National Guard Deputy Commanding General for U.S. Army Pacific Maj. Gen. Patrick D. Wilson will serve as keynote speaker at the 1st Annual ESGR Employer Awards Gala tomorrow, May 2 at 6pm at Marriott Guam Resort.
The gala, organized by Guam-CNMI Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, will celebrate local businesses on Guam and throughout the CNMI who employ and support members of the Guard and Reserve.
“Maj. Gen. Patrick Wilson has served our country since 1976, and has commanded thousands of soldiers during his career,” said ESGR president Paul D. Leon Guerrero. “He knows better than anyone the sacrifice our men and women in uniform make every day, and how thankful they are to employers who allow them to keep their jobs back home.”
Public and private businesses are required to hold jobs for men and women who serve in the Guard and Reserve when they get called to serve our country. Because of their support of the Armed Forces, servicemen and women can concentrate on their mission without worrying about their jobs.
ESGR is a Department of Defense agency that seeks to develop and promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees. It does so by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the law and resolving conflicts through mediation.
Several employers and supporters will be honored throughout the gala with awards including the Seven Seals Award, Volunteer Appreciation, the FC Spirit of Volunteerism Award, Above and Beyond Awards and Pro Patria Awards, presented by event emcees Ray Gibson and Patty Arroyo. (PR)
