The Administration for Native Americans and the Office of Community Services Assets for Financial Independence program have partnered to promote asset building in native communities. This pre-application training will include information on applying for funding through a new OCS and ANA initiative that will support comprehensive asset building projects in native communities. The training is free to tribes and Native American, Native Alaskan, Native Hawaiian, and U.S. Pacific Islander non-profit organizations.
The Office of Community Services’ Assets for Independence program supports innovative asset-building projects that feature Individual Development Accounts, financial education, and related services that enable low-income people to improve their economic status and become economically self-sufficient. IDA savings placed in an AFI account can be used to build assets in three areas: homeownership, business capitalization, and postsecondary education and training.
