The women’s doubles A pairs of Hannah Choi and So Young Lee and Marlene Peraja and Lani Bartolome kept their unbeaten records in the 2011 IT&E Singles/Doubles Badminton Tournament after Week 2 of the competition at the TSL Sports Complex.

The two tandems improved to identical 2-0 records, becoming only the two teams to remain undefeated in their division pending Sunday’s results.

Choi and Lee notched their second victory after surviving Angie Ito and Gigi Zapanta in three sets last Thursday. Ito and Zapanta secured the first set, 21-14, but could not maintain their momentum in the end, as the Korean pair swept the last two sets, 21-12, 21-12, to steal the victory. Choi and Lee’s first win were recorded during the opening week of the tournament, as they prevailed over Loyda Ito and Christy Villaflor, 21-18, 21-13.

Bartolome and Peraja also played in the opening week and needed only two sets to down Anna Alvarez and Shirley Kim, 21-16, 21-18. Then the pair recorded their second straight set win after whipping Anna Rose Omori and Michelle Caleon last Thursday, 21-15, 21-17.

In other results last Thursday, Ezekiel Macario, Elna Curate, Alma Ortega and Chie Guevarra, Curate and Shirley Kim, and Saul Gargalo and Wowie de Guzman won their respective matches at Court 1.
