A true Christmas story
At 5:30pm on Christmas Day, a thief stole my goat right in front of the old mwar mwar center on Beach Road. I heard my goat yelling for help and as I came around to check I saw a shirtless local guy running with my goat on his shoulder, desperately struggling as he carried her away. I ran back to get my bicycle to give chase but, as I got into view, he jumped into a waiting pickup truck and they dashed away. I parked my bike and just gave the incident a little thought: Do I call the police? I said no. I said to myself, maybe it is the same guy who stole my male goat a few months ago. I did not call the police either that day. It occurred to me that maybe the guy needed to feed his family on this joyous day, so I turned around and when I got back home I did write down the license plate number but I’ll keep it for memory only. Countless victims on island experience such crimes and feel helpless that such crimes will ever be solved. All we can do this joyous day is to forgive this guy and hope that the feast he will have with his friends and family will be joyous. Merry Christmas my dear friend for I have already forgiven you. Happy holidays!
Oh, by the way, I got three goats as a gift and gave one away when I rescued some friends coming back from Goat Island in a distressed boat full of live goats during hunting season this summer.
