In observance of New Year’s Day, Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, the Lower Base transfer station and the Marpi landfill will be closed all day. Regular schedule will resume on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 through Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, from 7:30am to 11:30am, and 12:30pm to 4pm. Happy New Year! (PR)
[B]Sobriety checkpoints today[/B]The Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section will be conducting sobriety checkpoints today, Dec. 31, 2013
– 5pm to 6:15pm: Beach Road Chalan Piao in front of Hopwood Jr. High School on the southbound lane.
– 9:30pm to 10:45pm: Chalan Monsignor Guerrero, Chalan Kiya by the CUC Waterloo on the southbound lane.
– 11:30pm-12:45am: Chalan Pale Arnold, Gualo Rai in front of Han’s Tire Shop on the northbound lane.

[B]Family grief support meeting on Jan. 2[/B]A group that is in the process of forming a Compassionate Friends chapter on Saipan will be holding their monthly grief support meeting on Thursday, Jan. 2, from 6pm to 7:30pm, in the NMPASI conference room on Middle Road, in Gualo Rai.

[B]Dog found[/B]A Good Samaritan found a dog wandering along Tun Juaquin Doi Road in As Lito around 5pm to 6pm Sunday night. The owner of the dog should call 234-2316 and bring a photo of the lost dog for verification.
