Guam Airmen recognized as best in the Air National Guard

Two members of the 254th Security Forces Squadron received accolades as the best of the best in the entire Air National Guard Security Forces.

Master Sergeant Frankie C. Quinata was selected as the Outstanding ANG Security Forces Senior Non-Commissioned Officer awardee while Technical Sergeant Oscar Y. Espinosa was selected as the Outstanding ANG Security Forces Non-Commissioned Officer awardee.

Quinata and Espinosa competed against Air National Guard Airmen representing all 54 states and territories in the Security Forces specialty.

“This is another great accomplishment for our island. These airmen continue to put the Guam Air National Guard on the map. I am honored that we have two airmen being honored at the national level. I extend my congratulations to the Airmen and their families,” said Maj. Gen. Benny M. Paulino, The Adjutant General, Guam National Guard.

Quinata, who is from the village of Merizo, joined the U.S. Army in 1986 and served three years. He enlisted in the Guam Air National Guard in 2004 as a Security Forces Apprentice and has excelled in various capacities within the Guam Air National Guard, the 36th Security Forces Squadron and the 736th SFS/Commando Warrior.

Quinata recently returned from a deployment to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, with the AFCENT 1 ECEG / 557 ERHS as the Superintendent of Security Forces and Force Protection Advisor.

In his civilian capacity, Quinata is a conservation officer with the Department of Agriculture’s Division of Aquatic and Wildlife.

Espinosa, from the village of Agat, enlisted in the Guam Air National Guard in 2004 as a Security Forces Apprentice and currently serves as the Security Manager and Drug Testing Program Administrative Manager. He has also provided outstanding support to the 36th SFS, Andersen AFB, Guam; the 18th SFS, Kadena AB, Japan; and the 506 ESFS, while deployed to Kirkuk Regional AB, Iraq.

Espinosa is currently deployed to Al Udeid AB, Qatar, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
