Search for missing crewmember off Palau

PALAU—A search is being conducted for a missing crewmember from a 423-foot container ship approximately 210 nautical miles south-south-east of Palau.

During the evening of Dec. 19, 2014, U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam received a report from Japan Coast Guard regarding a man overboard from the Panama flagged cargo ship BEAGEL 1. The man was last seen wearing yellow clothing. The vessel conducted initial searches of the area.

Sector Guam is coordinating search efforts with multiple resources to include: BEAGEL 1, a U.S. Navy P-8 aircraft from Kadena Air Base in Japan, and the Palau patrol boat PSS President H. I. Remeliik. (USCG)
