Man shot and wounded at his Dandan house
A man was shot and wounded at his home in Dandan on Saturday, allegedly by a 52-year-old man with whom he had an argument with a few days before the attack.
Stanley Limes Laniyo was wounded on the left thumb and middle finger and was taken by medics to the Commonwealth Health Center.
Joseph William Barto was served with an arrest warrant in Lower Dandan on Saturday at 3:41pm for assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace charges.
At a hearing on Monday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $10,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for Jan. 20 at 1:30pm.
Police detective Jeffrey I. Norita stated in his report that a police officer who responded to a report of a shooting incident on Saturday at 1:41am met with Laniyo, who was standing on the road side.
The officer saw that Laniyo’s left hand was covered with a bloodstained white towel. Showing his injuries, Laniyo told the officer that Barto shot him.
Norita said that three days before the incident, Barto arrived at Laniyo’s residence in Dandan to talk about drugs. Laniyo claimed that he told Barto to “get lost.”
On Saturday, Laniyo was heading home from a nearby store when he saw Barto driving a car ahead of him. As Laniyo was parking his vehicle at his driveway, he saw Barto make a U-turn. Laniyo got down from his car and noticed that Barto’s vehicle was heading in his direction. When the vehicle got closer with the driver’s window rolled down, Laniyo saw Barto pointing a rifle at him.
Laniyo threw a coffee can he was holding at Barto and ran toward his house. Barto, however, allegedly fired four to five shots. Barto then sped off toward the main road.
Laniyo managed to see the last three digits of the suspect’s car’s license plate. He then called the police.
Two police officers later brought Laniyo to Barto’s house, where the alleged victim identified the defendant and the Toyota Camry with license plate ABU-796 that was parked at the house.
Crime scene technician found a used .22 caliber shell case on the road near Laniyo’s residence.
Buenas,
Drugs and more drugs in the CNMI. Sooner or later, people would be falling or dying like flies in the CNMI if the drug problems is not address. Especially when the very people who are involve in the drug trade are the one suppose to serve and protect the public. The CNMI would experience a root awaken in the future, once the Asian underground world and drugs intertwine in the future. The CNMI would be turn into the ghettos of America and drugs rule the day.

If guns don’t kill people, why do you blame drugs?
And that is why introducing handguns jun is not a good thing at this moment.
