A woman was arrested for allegedly punching a woman for refusing to let her borrow her car, then drove the vehicle away from her apartment unit in Susupe on Saturday afternoon.

Laraad Mekayla Ramangmou, 20, was caught after the alleged stolen vehicle—a red 2014 Hyundai Elantra sedan—that she was driving nearly caused an accident with other vehicles the following morning.

Ramangmou was arrested for theft of vehicle, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $117.50 cash bail or 10 percent of the $1,175 cash bail that the court initially set.

Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig was appointed as counsel for Ramangmou.

Police detective Dee Liza S. Udui stated in her report that preliminary investigation showed that on Saturday at 12:30pm to 1pm, Ramangmou was at the apartment unit of Doris S. Dhakal in Susupe to borrow her car.

Dhakal refused because Ramangmou borrowed her car before but got in trouble.

The defendant got mad, walked to Dhakal, who was in the living room, and punched her left chest. The defendant then grabbed the car key from the living room table and walked out of the apartment.

When Ramangmou ran out, Dhakal asked a woman who was standing outside the apartment to help her get her car key back. Dhakal could not run because her left foot was injured. The woman rode off with Ramangmou instead. Dhakal then called for police’s assistance.

At 11:25am the following day, two police officers who were traveling south on Monsignor Guerrero Road in front of Twins Supermarket spotted Dhakal’s stolen car switching lanes without turning on the signal lights and nearly causing an accident with other vehicles.

When the car parked in front of Revenue and Taxation Office, the officers approached and saw the driver as Ramangmou, who was with a female passenger.

Ramangmou then started crying and allegedly admitted that she had argument with Dhakal and left with the latter’s car.
