TUMON, Guam—The 1st Tri-Annual Meeting of the PATA Micronesia Chapter will be held on April 6-9, 2015, on the island of Majuro in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

PATA is a membership association acting as a catalyst for the responsible development of the Asia Pacific travel and tourism industry. The PATA Micronesia Chapter consists of members from the Micronesia region directly in the tourism industry, including national and state tourism offices. In partnership with PATA’s private and public sector members, the organization enhances the sustainable growth, value and quality of travel and tourism to, from, and within the region. The PATA Micronesia Chapter conducts regular meetings tri-annually in the region.

“We are very excited to hold our first Tri-Annual General Membership meeting this year in the Marshall Islands under our new leadership elected in December last year and to work on our new programs and promotions for the region,” said Pilar Laguana, PATA Micronesia Chapter chairwoman. “We warmly welcome new members from throughout the region who want to partner together in marketing the Micronesia region as a leisure travel destination.”

The host island assists the chapter with logistics, meeting venues, networking meetings, training sessions, product tours, and an arranged courtesy visit to the president or governor of the respective island with the chapter’s executive members. The preceding days include auxiliary committee meetings of the Education, Membership, Marketing and Executive Committee and concludes with the Annual General Membership meeting.

The Micronesia Cruise Association also normally holds their meetings the same time as the PATA chapter meetings.

Those who are interested in membership may apply by contacting the Membership Committee co-chairs Sam Scott at sam@samtours.com or Barbara Taitano at mysticaltaguam@gmail.com. We encourage 2014 members to renew their membership for 2015 by contacting PATA treasurer Judy C. Torres at judyctorres@mymarianas.com. A PATA travel rate to the RMI will be extended to chapter members in good standing.
