Perez boosts bid for Golden Boot award

Tan Holdings Football Club’s Sean Perez is way ahead in the race for the Golden Boot award as he has collected 10 goals in four games in the boys U18 division of the 2015 NMIFA Youth Spring League.

He registered his most goals on March 21, knocking in four goals in their 14-1 spanking of Paire Football Club. The Tan Holdings striker earlier gained four goals in their 5-1 victory over Paire in the first round. Against rival MP United on Feb. 21, Perez scored one of the goals in their 2-1 win, while versus Matansa on Feb. 28, he netted two goals to lift his squad to a 4-1 triumph.

Perez enjoys a big lead against six players, who are tied for second place after collecting three each. Locked in a six-way deadlock are Matansa’s Ryu Tanzawa and Kenneth Mafnas, Tan Holdings’ Yoshi Mafnas, Joel Fruit, and Se Young Kim, and MP United’s Daniel Lim.

There is also a standoff for third place with five players having two goals apiece. Matansa’s Joshua De Leon and Evan Belcher have two each, duplicating the feat of MP United’s Enrico Del Rosario, Scott Kim, and Tan Holdings’ Junsik Kim.

Completing the scoring list as of March 21 are Paire’s Jefferson Sagum, J.C. Piring, and Ensik Choi, MP United’s Kyle Chung, Chan Woo Jeong, Sunjoon Tenorio, and Dakota Hall, and Tan Holdings’ Kautong Omengkar and Cosmos Kim. All nine has tallied one goal each.

Tan Holdings leads the division with its unbeaten 4-0-0 win-draw-loss record (results of March 28 matches not included). In four games, division leaders has scored 25 goals and allowed only five. MP United is at close second with its 3-0-1 card, having earned four goals and given up four. Matansa is ranked third with its 1-0-3 slate and nine goals scored, while Paire has yet to win this season and has collected only four goals, while allowing three.
