Police pursuing ‘good leads’ in guard’s killing
Guam chief medical examiner Dr. Aurelio Espinola will conduct an autopsy today, Monday, on the remains of James Patrick Deleon Guerrero, the security guard who was fatally shot by a masked robber inside the Royal Poker arcade in Afetnas.
As this developed, Saipan Tribune learned that police detectives have “good leads” on the identity of the masked gunman.
Department of Public Safety Commissioner James C. Deleon Guerrero confirmed yesterday that Espinola will perform the autopsy on Deleon Guerrero’s body at the Commonwealth Health Center’s morgue.
The autopsy will determine the victim’s cause of death and injuries.
Deleon Guerrero is first cousin of the victim.
Espinola was reportedly summoned to the crime scene last Tuesday where he pronounced the security guard dead.
At that time, Espinola was about to leave for Guam after doing an autopsy on the body of Ana Maria Limes, who was killed inside her house in Oleai. The body was found last Monday, April 20.
Saipan Tribune gathered that police received more tips about Deleon Guerrero’s killer after releasing nine photos of the suspect to the media.
The still photos were taken from the footage of a video surveillance camera at Royal Poker.
The suspect is described as about 5’8” to 5’10” tall and medium built. He was wearing a gray military pattern dress uniform with a black mask covering his face.
Police discovered the body of the 39-year-old Deleon Guerrero in the bathroom. He was reportedly shot in the back.
A female cashier was also shot, but was not hit as she had locked herself inside the cashier’s booth. The suspect failed to get any money and fled the scene on foot toward Beach Road, San Antonio.
“A female cashier was also shot, but was not hit..”
I think it would make more sense to say she was ‘shot at’ but not hit.
Why would any comment be made such as “we are pursuing good leads” Even IF true it should not be stated as such as it will only drive the person(s) deeper underground.
They should just state the case is still under investigation. The criminals here have no fear of the police as their track record on solving crimes is very dismal as usually only catch anyone by mistake or when another rats them out.
The the courts will give them a slap on the hand and probation. The omnes that do end up in jail are paroled at the fiorst opertunity or given early release in spite of the Judges sentencing “day for day without parole or early release”.
BTW, JFYI Ferdie, as far as the Cashier “being shot , but missed” It should read “the Cashier was shot at but the bullet missed.” or something along those lines. Being shot is being hit with a bullet penetrating or grazing ones body.
Buenas Captain,
We do things backwards on our island chain and probably the statement above was a make believe.
Thanks for the English lesson, because our reading comprehension is twisted at times.
