Seventh Day Adventist School’s 5K fundraiser last Sunday raised some $4,312 that will go toward scholarships for students who need financial assistance in attending their school, according to SDA public relations and teacher assistant Faith Hoyt.

The school event, called the 6th Annual 5K Hope Run, drew 87 runners for a race from Garapan Fishing Base to Trankun Da’uk beginning at 6am.

Hoyt told Saipan Tribune Wednesday that the money raised will go to subsidize tuition for students who want to attend SDA but are financially unable to cover all of their tuition.

With the amount raised, she said they would be able to help six students.

She gave a “big hearty thank you” to everyone who supported the event.

From first to 10th place, the top overall finishers were Ronald Villafria, Gary Bandoja, Claire Devey, Sang Yoon, Solomon Ivesusab, Ken Pierson, Steven Pixley, Siyoung Heo, Jushu Qiu, and Sam R.

In the 10 years old and below category, top male and female finishers were Ryan Yoon and Mariel Lopez, respectively. For the 11-to-20-year-old category, this was Jushua Qiu and Salome Muller.

For the 21-to-30-year-olds, the top male finisher was Chase Shiremen; the top female finisher was Bekah Shiremen. For the 31-to-40-year-old category, Solomon Iyesusab and Claire Devey were first to finish.

For the 41 to 50 years old, Ronald Villafria and Jenny Yoon finished as the first male and female finishers, respectively. For the 51 years old and above, this was Steven Pixley and Marie Babauta.
