Cape Air flight turns back to Guam

A Cape Air flight carrying 35 passengers, one child, and a crew of three bound for Rota had to turn back to Guam due to issues with the plane.

According to the Cape Air/United Express public relations office, flight UA5038 from Guam to Rota returned to Guam shortly after take off due to a mechanical issue.

The afternoon flight was set to depart for Rota at 1pm yesterday, according to flighstats.com.

Cape Air/United said the aircraft landed safely back in Guam at 1:25pm.

The mechanical issue was fixed and the aircraft was placed back into service and departed at 5:15pm. This, following a “thorough inspection by our maintenance team,” said Cape Air/United.

“We regret any inconvenience experienced by our customers,” the airline said.
