Int’l Festival of Cultures begins Aug. 22

The 2nd Annual International Festival of Cultures will be held for six consecutive Saturday evenings on Saipan beginning on Aug. 22, 2015.

The festival will be held Aug. 22 and 29 and Sept. 5, 12, 19, and 26 at Paseo de Marianas in Garapan and will celebrate the cultural diversity of the Northern Mariana Islands, with special emphasis on the indigenous cultures of Micronesia.
The Marianas Visitors Authority is seeking representative groups of different cultures to participate in planning for the event. Representative groups may contact MVA Community Projects specialist Ryan Calvo at rcalvo@mymarianas.com or 1.670.664.3210 for more information.
“The International Festival of Cultures was a great success last year, and we are once again inviting all cultural groups represented in the Northern Marianas, whether big or small, to be a part of this year’s celebration,” said MVA Community Projects manager Martin Duenas. “The festival is a great opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our community and share that wealth with our visitors, as well.”
The festival will include food sales beginning at 5pm and live cultural entertainment from 6pm to 11pm. Admission is free. (MVA)
