$1K worth of sports equipment at stake in Dodgeball tourney
Pacific Islands Club Saipan will be hosting its annual Dodgeball Fundraising Tournament. All elementary schools have been invited to this day long tournament. There will be a pool-play seeding tournament in the morning. The elimination bracket will begin in the afternoon. All of this will take place on the PIC tennis courts on Nov. 21 starting at 9am.

The SDA Dental Clinic, Bridge Capital, LLC and Pacific Islands Club Saipan have made generous donations to the tournament this year which will allow all participating schools to join at no cost.
“After the passing of Typhoon Souldelor, I saw a lot of kids out and about until school reopened,” said tournament director Glenn Policare. “I knew that by hosting a free tournament this year would help a little to get things back to normal.”
In years past, the schools were asked to pay an entry fee to join. This year, 16 elementary schools have been invited to join for free. T-shirts and lunch will be included as well.
This year will also see a wider range of kids joining the tournament. All schools have been asked to roster one boy and one girl from 1st to 5th grade. This should even out the playing field and give all grade levels a chance to help their school take the coveted perpetual trophy. More than $1,000 worth of sporting goods will be distributed to the top two finishing schools.
San Vicente Elementary School will be returning to defend their 2014 title, while Garapan Elementary will be trying to regain their 2013 title. Kagman Elementary, the 2012 champions, will be returning as well. “It is always great to see the school return for this event year after year,” said assistant tournament director Dennis Tababa. “I am looking forward to seeing all the kids come out and play!”
“Dodgeball really takes me back to my days of elementary school,” said tournament director Glenn Policare. “I love seeing all the kids out on the court enjoying the same game I did as a kid.”
