A man allegedly tried to stab his common-law wife with a hunting knife, damaged her car, and punctured holes at their house’s roof using an ax in Kagman III on Thursday at noon.
Leonardo Duenas Camacho, 48, was arrested on that same day for assault with a dangerous weapon, criminal mischief, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
At a hearing on Friday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $6,500 cash bail and appointed assistant public defender Tillman Clark as counsel for the defendant.
Assistant attorney general Chester Hinds appeared for the government.
Preliminary hearing will be on Wednesday at 9am.
Police Detective Therese S. Kintoki stated in her report that the victim and her child went to a residence of Ignacia Demapan in Kagman II and asked for help regarding a domestic violence at their residence in Kagman III.
Kintoki said when two police officers arrived at the residence of Demapan, they observed that the tearful victim was crying.
The victim told police that she expressed her disappointment at Camacho because he has yet to fix her vehicle and that their child was really hungry as there was no food in their house.
During their argument, Camacho allegedly hit the victim on the left eye with the back of his hand. He then grabbed a hunting knife and punctured her car’s three tires and cracked the rear windshield.
Camacho allegedly tried to stab the victim with the knife, but she grabbed a broken bush cutter to prevent him from stabbing her.
The defendant then climbed up the house on a ladder and punctured holes on the roof. The victim and her child then left the house to seek assistance.
Police arrested Camacho at 1:56pm on that same day.
