Miss CNMI Liberation candidates’ training kicks off

The training for the 2016 Miss CNMI Liberation candidates kicked off Monday evening at the Northern Marianas College with lessons taught by Ernie Molina, the CNMI’s renowned pageant director and choreographer.
The goal of the pageant fundamentals training is to “prepare these young ladies for the role they will be taking on as titlists, as role models, as ambassadors of our people, and of the Northern Mariana Islands,” said Rose Ada-Hocog. “In this particular training, they were taught about the three Ps—poise, posture, and presence—which are very important when making a first impression, whether it be for a job interview, attending community events, or meetings, etc.”
“The objective of the training is to make them understand that their role is bigger than raising funds for the festival,” explained Molina. “As CNMI’s ambassadors, they need to be confident, graceful, and intelligent.”
The feeling of excitement amongst the candidates spiked even more as they started their first day of training. “As we practiced our routine for the opening and coronation night, I realized the huge step we all took to be a part of this year’s Miss CNMI Liberation pageant,” according to Miss CNMI Liberation candidate and Northern Marianas College student Christine Roque.
“I am so thankful to have joined this pageant,” said Miss CNMI Liberation candidate and Kagman High School senior Mardee Ann Hermosilla. “I gained another great mother and 25 other amazing sisters who accept me as I am.”
“I would like to give a huge appreciation appreciate all the efforts to prepare us for the role we will be taking on as the incoming Royal Court,” said Miss CNMI Liberation candidate and Kagman High School senior Coryn Monica Achas.
The training is the first of a series of trainings that the Saipan Mayor’s Office, Skywalker Communications Group, and the Liberation Day Committee, with the assistance of NMC, have planned for the Miss CNMI Liberation Candidates’ journey of self-discovery and development; a journey that is crucial for young women like them to blossom into strong independent women who will not only serve as role models, but who will also represent the CNMI’s new era of women leaders.
