The Committee to Re-Elect Angel Aldan Demapan will be holding a birthday fundraiser for Rep. Demapan today, Thursday, May 26, beginning at 6pm at the Garapan Central Park.

Demapan currently chairs the House Standing Committee on Federal and Foreign Affairs and is one of six incumbents representing Precinct 1.

Tickets are $20 and include two free drinks, a sumptuous dinner, and a live entertainment lineup of five local bands.

Tickets will be available at the door.

Demapan will be seeking re‐election in the upcoming mid-term election in November.

“I want to thank everyone who blessed me with the opportunity to serve our people in the House of Representatives,” said Demapan.

“Despite the challenges that beset our islands this past year, we continue to see much needed improvements to our economy.

As we forge ahead, high priority must be placed on ensuring that planned developments in the Commonwealth are scaled and timed in accordance to the labor capacity of the CNMI.”

Looking ahead, Demapan vows to continue keeping an active dialogue with the military to ensure that the concerns of the community are addressed before any agreements are made with regards to planned military buildup in the area.

Demapan also plans to continue his efforts to shift funding toward the healthcare needs of the community.

This fiscal year, Demapan authored legislation appropriating nearly $1 million from the Cancer Fund to benefit programs such as medical referral, oral health services, Community Guidance Center, CNMI Medicaid, and the Commonwealth Cancer Association. This bill became Public Law 19‐16. (PR)
