LITERARY NOOK
Who Votes for Donald Now
so who votes for Donald Trump now
who puts the country’s trust in a fool
who will rely on him to take command
citizens possessing the inherent know how
think back to what they learned in school
“ to the republic for which it stands”
Benjamin Franklin said our republic
would not live under the weight of ignorance
it was the best form of government if we keep it
let us make ideas of our founding fathers stick
and drop the demagogic TV reality romance
on the dung heap of history we should heap it
so who will vote for Donald Trump now? why
those who can’t tell a cougar from a cash cow
Title inspiration is W.B. Yeats’ Who Goes With Fergus, 1893.
The Crazed Billionaire
crazy for power but not power sharing
the ‘bigly’ billionaire swaggers on stage
ego inflated way beyond any comparing
he pumps the audience with self righteous rage
they struggle to grasp and understand in vain
for the demagogue to be clear and explain
migrants will stay behind a wall or be deported
he praises Putin’s country grabbing outreach
at fifth grade reading level his talk and textual
absolute refusal to have his IRS taxes reported
repeats himself daily in every stump speech
denies, in complete denial of anything sexual
the United States loses face all around the world
as the crazed billionaire’s personality is unfurled
Title inspiration is W.B. Yeats’ The Crazed Moon, 1933.
