Japanese high school visits Saipan

Happy as they all were with their last visit to Saipan, Ikuei Nishi High School has again brought its students and faculty to the island to interact with a local high school.
The group, which consists of 159 students in total as well as 13 staff, has been here on Saipan since Sunday and they will be here until this Thursday.
Members of the school stayed at Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan and visited several popular locations on island such as the American Memorial Park, Banzai Cliff, Suicide Cliff, and Bird Island Lookout. Students also organized a flower offering at the Last Command Post.
Masanori Takahashi, president of Pacific Development Inc., said, “We chose to come again to Saipan because it is such a beautiful island. The students can enjoy the nice scenery as well as educate themselves on the culture provided here.”
Among the events that took place in the two days since the students have been on Saipan were the dinner with fellow Japanese class students from Mount Carmel School as well as a trip to Managaha Island that included banana boat riding, parasailing, and a barbecue dinner.
“The visit of students from Ikuei Nishi High School is important since it can help them practice their English and allows them to experience a completely different culture as opposed to what they are used to in Japan,” Takahashi said. (Michael T. Santos)
