Masked man robs poker arcade
No one was reported injured but the suspect managed to run off with over $10,000 cash, police said.
Preliminary police investigation showed that the suspect, described as wearing all-black clothing, including a black cloth covering his face, entered the arcade at 5am.
At the time, there were two female employees who were cleaning the game room, according to police spokesman Jason Tarkong.
One employee was outside washing her feet when the suspect suddenly entered the establishment.
The suspect threatened one employee by lifting the machete as if he was going to strike her. The employee picked up a broom and braced herself against a wall to protect herself.
The suspect kicked in the door to the cashier’s booth, grabbed the cash from the drawer, stuffed it in a plastic bag, and fled on foot.
Witnesses saw the suspect running east toward a nearby residential area. Police responded and canvassed the neighborhood.
Tarkong said police recovered some of the stolen cash on the ground and secured them as evidence.
The suspect remains at large.
Saipan Tribune learned that police investigators were still reviewing footage from the surveillance camera.
MCM2 Poker Game Room is owned by Hyodok Corp. It’s other remaining poker game room, Finasisu Market Poker, was also robbed by two men, including one armed with a gun, four years ago. That robbery was never solved.
Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s help for information on the robbery.
