T8 Warriors, Ol’Aces down Knights

The Ol’Aces and T8 Warriors defeated the Knights in their separate games in the 2017 Francisco M. Diaz Memorial Youth League last Wednesday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
In the girls division, the Ol’Aces topped the Lady Knights, 32-19, while in the boys U18 category, the T8 Warriors edged the Knights, 54-46.
Chevy Kate Alipio led the Ol’Aces with her 10 points and she drew enough help from her teammates en route to their double-digit winning margin. Simrani Surima, Cherville Espinosa, Jumia Alegre, and Annalei Santos added 4 points apiece, while two more Ol’Aces players hit the board.
Only four players scored for the Lady Knights with Karleen Reyes making 9 and Guinevere Borja contributing 6. Jennifer Villagomez and Tawnie Manibusan were the other scorers for the Lady Knights.
In the second game, the T8 Warriors also won their debut, thanks to their balance scoring.
Ten T8 Warriors made it to the team’s box score and six drilled at least two field goals apiece. Henry Aguon led all scorers with his 13 markers, while Rawhoo Sulap chipped in 12. Don Fejeran, Travis Kapileo, Kaikuni Kainoa, and Ace Evangelista combined for 22 more points for the T8 Warriors.
The T8 Warriors were just ahead by four midway in the second half, 38-34, when they forced a couple of errors and converted them into fastbreak plays to up their lead to double-digits, 48-38. The Knights tried to rally in the homestretch, but three straight baskets from Sulap denied the former’s bid.
Tony Deloen Guerrero had 12 points on a losing effort for the Knights.
