Marine debris contest for fishing derby participants

Share

Working to prevent marine debris on Saipan’s waters, the Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance will again conduct a marine debris raffle draw in conjunction with the Annual Mahi Mahi Fishing Derby slated for Saturday, April 8, 2017.

The prize is $300 in Joeten gift certificates, for one winner.

Eligible participants must find at least one piece of trash, which is man-made, found in the ocean, and collected while they are fishing in the derby. Any floating marine debris, such as plastic, qualifies. The trash will have to be turned in to the MINA booth upon docking to receive a raffle ticket.

Raffle tickets are limited to one for each individual qualifying fisherman who turns in marine debris.

This contest is only open to registered participants of the fishing derby. The drawing will be held at the awards ceremony, and ticket holders must be present to win. For more information, email MINA at minaoutreach@gmail.com or call 233-REEF. (PR)
