Police cadet in theft case OK’d to post $500 bail
The Superior Court released to a third-party custodian yesterday a police cadet facing criminal charges, upon posting a $500 cash bail and $4,500 unsecured bond.
Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho granted the motion of assistant public defender Shoshanah Epstein to modify the $5,000 cash bail earlier imposed on her client, Aghilimal R. Faisao.
Camacho found former Department of Community and Cultural Affairs secretary Thomas Tebuteb suitable as a third-party custodian for the 21-year-old Faisao.
Faisao is Tebuteb’s son-in-law.
Assistant attorney general Heather Barcinas, counsel for the government, did not object to the bail modification or to Tebuteb’s appointment as Faisao’s third-party custodian.
Among other conditions, Faisao is not allowed to drink alcohol while he is out on bail.
Faisao, through counsel, also waived his right for preliminary hearing.
Arraignment will be on Aug. 7.
Faisao was arrested last Sunday midnight for allegedly eating at the Mobil gas station in Chalan Kiya without paying for the items he took and challenging the station’s employee to a fight.
Faisao, who was allegedly very drunk, reportedly made a mess on the table and floor with the food and washed his hands using the soda dispenser in the store.
The police cadet was arrested for theft, theft of service, assault, and disturbing the peace.
