Green Gala sponsors: Joeten Enterprises, Joeten Motors

With a donation that totaled $7,000 in all, Joeten Enterprises and Joeten Motors Co. have signed on as sponsors of the upcoming Green Gala of the Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance.
Joeten Enterprises and Joeten Motors presented their sponsorship checks to MINA last Tuesday.
MINA executive director Roberta Guerrero, who received the checks, said that she and the staff at MINA are excited about the Joeten sponsorship.
“We really are excited about the participation of Joeten in our efforts to put this Green Gala together,” she said.
Guerrero also said all the donations really push their agenda forward to build a culture that recycles and protects the environment and they are grateful for that financial push.
According to both Joeten Motors president Frances Demapan and Joeten Enterprises manager Jose Tenorio, they wholeheartedly support MINA’s purpose, hence the decision to become sponsors of the Green Gala.
In addition, Joeten Motors and the Joeten supermarket chains have been initiating ways to help protect the environment.
Joeten Motors’ used oil burner ensures that used oil do not end up polluting the islands’ waters. The used oil burner is a process where used oil from vehicles is burned instead of being thrown out.
The dealership also recycles coolant. According to Demapan, coolant that isn’t completely tapped out is gathered and sold again.
The company uses solar energy to power its facilities through the net metering system of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.
Demapan acknowledged that the car industry plays a role in pollution. “I honestly feel that, in the car business, we are also held accountable because we have so many cars that we’re selling and running on the road, so we should do our part too,” said Demapan.
The Joeten supermarket chain has also initiated ways to protect the environment like their eco-bags, box donations, and Taya Plastic Tuesdays campaign.
