Docomo Pacific launches disaster aid for Hurricane Harvey victims
TAMUNING, Guam—In true “Better Together” spirit, Docomo Pacific launched a fundraising initiative to assist the American Red Cross with disaster relief for communities in Texas and Louisiana affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Docomo Pacific Postpaid mobile customers in Guam, Saipan, Tinian, and Rota can donate money by texting 1 to “HELP (4357)” on their Docomo Pacific phones. With each message sent, customers will donate $1 to the American Red Cross Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Each contribution will appear on the customer’s next statement. This fundraising initiative will run from Sept. 1 to Sept. 15. Customers may text as many times as they like.
Jonathan Kriegel, Docomo Pacific president and chief executive officer, said this fundraising initiative “allows our Docomo Pacific family in the Marianas to show our support for communities affected by Hurricane Harvey. This type of situation hits close to home. The people of Guam and the CNMI understand the impact a natural disaster takes on a community. We extend our heartfelt prayers of hope and recovery to the people of Texas and Louisiana.”
Over the years Docomo Pacific has also led fundraising initiatives for victims of Typhoon Soudelor in the CNMI, Typhoon Maysak in Chuuk and Yap, Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, and the 2011 tsunami in Japan. These efforts have yielded thousands of dollars in support. (PR)
