The inaugural Danny Borlain’s Indoor Volleyball Classic will kick off tomorrow, starting at 6:30pm at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
The tournament will have two divisions—men’s and women’s—and will be held from Sept. 12 to 29.
Each team can field a minimum of eight players and a maximum of 10. The final submission of team rosters is on opening day and teams must settle their registration fees ($70 for 10 players/$50 for eight ) before they are allowed to play.
Saipan Volleyball is hosting the tournament and organizers are expecting at least eight teams in each division. Under-18 players are required to secure a signature from their parent or legal guardian before they can play in the tournament.
This is the second straight tournament organized by Saipan Volleyball after the group held a 4-person coed beach volleyball competition last month. The first one was a fundraising contest held at Sandy Beach to prepare for the indoor volleyball event. An indoor volleyball tournament was held last May, a fundraiser for the CNMI team’s participation in the Micronesian Baseball Classic in Guam this year.
BTG and All About That Ace ruled the men’s and women’s divisions in the 2017 MBC Fundraising Volleyball Tournament. Both teams were undefeated in the tournament to claim the crowns in their respective divisions.
