After over a month of hiding, the man suspected of taking off with over $30,000 from the Club 88 mini casino in Oceanview Hotel in Garapan last Dec. 1 surrendered to the Criminal Investigation Bureau last Friday at 11:53am.

Daniel Stafford, former manager of Club 88, has been hiding since Dec. 1 when police responded to a call about a theft incident at the mini casino. According to the caller, the vault should have contained $32,203 but just had $1,900.

Stafford was immediately the person of interest because he was nowhere to be found and, as club manager, he was the only employee who had access to the vault.

Last Dec. 7, an arrest warrant was issued against Stafford for the charge of theft, with the bail set at $50,000.

Police also investigated Redge Ordona Dampil, reportedly an Imperial Pacific International employee believed to be Stafford’s girlfriend and was believed to be harboring the fugitive.

Stafford is currently being held at the Department of Corrections.
