The largest and most anticipated parade in the CNMI has finally arrived and community members can expect huge surprises.

The 73rd Annual Liberation Day parade is scheduled for today and is expected to start at 3pm.

The parade is scheduled to start early in order to ensure that each parade float is given the opportunity to showcase its glory without the rush of finishing before sundown.

According to the Saipan Mayor’s Office, there will also be international guests who will venture to the CNMI, for the first time, in order to celebrate the Fourth of July with the CNMI community. Among the international guests is Federated States of Micronesia Vice President Yosiwo George.

Community members are encouraged to abide by instructions given by parade regulators throughout the parade to ensure that the parade goes smoothly for everyone involved.

Community members are also urged to bring hats, umbrellas, and beverages because the mid-afternoon weather is expected to be scorching.

The parade route from Atkins Kroll Toyota to the Garapan Fishing Base will be closed as early as 12pm today in order to get parade floats situated and lined up.

The first place float winner is eligible to win up to $4,000, the second place winner could win $3,000, and so forth.

Registration was opened back in May 1 and was officially closed on June 15.
