Kautz takes SGA May Ace; June Ace tournament this Sunday
Rick Kautz won the Saipan Golfers Association May Ace of the Month Tournament after shooting a net 70 last month at the Coral Ocean Point Golf & Resort.
The 10-handicapper Kautz fired a 37 and 43 on the front and back nines for a gross 80 and tied Larry Deleon Guerrero for the best net score. Kautz eventually took the May Ace awards, as Deleon Guerrero had already won the March plum. Kautz and Deleon Guerrero, a 17-handicapper and scored a 42 and 45 on the front and back nines for a gross 17, joined Joe H. Aldan (January), Joe I. Sablan (February), and Alex Tudela (April) on the early qualifiers list for the SGA Ace of Aces.
Rounding out the Top 3 for the May tournament was Attorney General Ed Manibusan, who carded a net 71 after making a gross 76 (37 on the front and 39 on the back nines with five handicap).
In side events, Deleon Guerrero made a closest to the pin shot on No. 14 and had the longest drive on No. 6. Alex Tudela, Ray Salas, and Jung Eun Teack were the other closest to the pin winners on No. 3, 7, and 12, respectively, while Aldan got the longest drive on No.18.
Meanwhile, the SGA June Ace of the Month Tournament will be held this Sunday at the Marianas Country Club. Check in is at 8:30am, while tee off is set at 9:30am.
