Police and fire personnel responded to a report of a structure fire in As Gonno around midnight Sunday. After putting out the blaze, responders made a gruesome discovery among the smoking remains: two bodies that were burned beyond recognition.
In a news briefing yesterday, Department of Public Safety Commissioner James C. Deleon Guerrero said the bodies have yet to be identified.
“Details are quite sketchy at this time and other than that we don’t have anymore additional information to offer,” he said.
He did confirm that the fire was reported by a neighbor.
It was not immediately learned if an autopsy will be done on the remains of the two victims.
The blaze occurred at a house southeast of Koblerville Elementary School. Footage from KSPN 2 last night showed that the fire razed the house to the ground.
Investigators from the Commonwealth Bureau of Investigation and Fire Services Division were seen at the area yesterday afternoon and were interviewing nearby residents about the incident.
According to one neighbor, it may be a possible suicide. “I don’t think they got burned accidentally,” he said.
Another neighbor said that relatives of the victims live nearby. They couldn’t be immediately reached for comment.
Deleon Guerrero said that police will release more information as soon as they’re done with their investigation.
