Freedom Walk tomorrow

The Field of Heroes Freedom Walk, which is meant to remember those who laid down their lives during the 9/11 disaster back in 2001, would start at 5pm tomorrow on Saipan.

The walk would start from the Garapan Fishing Base up to the venue site at the American Memorial Park.

The Department of Fire and Emergence Medical Services would provide a water cannon salute to walk participants, according to TanHoldings vice president for Corporate Affairs Cathy Attao-Toves. TanHoldings Corp. and its charitable arm, the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, is hosting the annual event.

Attao-Toves said that a little over 300 flags have garnered sponsors.

At the AMP, the CNMI National Anthem would be played by the Music of the Marianas Association, followed by the invocation and welcome greetings by National Park Service superintendent Barbara Alberti.

TanHoldings president Jerry Tan would speak, followed by a guest speaker, whom Toves has yet to disclose as of publication.

A wreath dedication followed by a moment of silence will be followed by a 30-second-long siren of all emergency vehicles in the CNMI. A 21-gun salute, followed by a performance by Sam Sosa would then follow.

The entire event is open to the public.

Proceeds from the event would be funneled toward the Northern Marianas Humanities Council to support their efforts to help those with post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD.
