E-Land works with Red Cross
Despite sustaining heavy damage itself, a South Korean-based company with several hotels on Saipan has been helping with relief and disaster response in the wake of Super Typhoon Yutu in late October 2018.
E-Land Group, a conglomerate that does business in retail malls, restaurants, theme parks, hotels, and construction, has been working with the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter by volunteering to assist in mobile distributions of emergency supplies to villages with Red Cross, youth volunteers, and military personnel.
“We will continue volunteering for another week or so, as per Red Cross’ relief activities,” said E-Land Corporate Social Responsibility facilitator Lindsay Ahn.
Staff from Kensington Hotel Saipan, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, and Coral Ocean Point Golf Resort volunteered to assist the Red Cross, Ahn added, despite the heavy damage to PIC and COP.
PIC, according to general manager Gloria Cavanagh, sustained heavy damage in both the hotel and their newly renovated waterpark. COP’s operations manager Calvin Park told Saipan Tribune that the hotel also suffered extensive damage, prompting them to transfer their guests to Kensington Hotel.
“All of us gladly joined to volunteer…to be a part of the help to the community, which is going through distressing time after Typhoon Yutu,” Ahn told Saipan Tribune. “Our staff has been spending meaningful time while closely meeting residents in needs.”
