Humanities Council to host student film festival
The Northern Marianas Humanities Council will be hosting its first ever Student Film Festival this Saturday, March 8, at the American Memorial Park Visitors Center Theater in Garapan starting at 6pm.
The event is free and the council has great prizes up for grabs. The winners of each category—film and photomontage—will be announced after the film screenings.
High school students from Saipan, Tinian, and Rota were invited to submit a digital film or digital photomontage that reflects the theme: “What does the American dream mean in the CNMI?”
Under the film category, the entries are:
-The American Dream from All Stars Productions of Marianas High School;
-Saimerican Dream by Miguel Dandan of MD Productions from Mount Carmel School; and
-The American Dream in the CNMI from Kagman High School.
Under the photomontage category, the entries are:
-The American Dream in the CNMI by Emman Parian of Grace Christian Academy; and
-My Dream by Enoch Huang of Agape Christian School.
A 2010 We The People grant awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities made the film festival possible.
Any views, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in the films or photo montages are those of the creator and do not necessarily represent those of the National Endowment for the Humanities or the Northern Marianas Humanities Council.
