$5K bail set for man who punched girlfriend
The NMI Superior Court imposed yesterday a bail of $5,000 on a man who allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face during a heated argument.
Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo issued the bail order for Lucio Litulumar Saures, who has been charged with assault and battery and disturbing the peace.
In the bail order, the 48-year-old Saures’ bail was set at $5,000 but the court has allowed his release if he posts 10 percent of his initial bail.
Saures remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections and is set for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 9 at 9am.
According to police, Saures assaulted his girlfriend at the Sonoda Apartment in Garapan last Jan. 1. Saures allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face during an argument and left her on the ground and took their children.
Police were dispatched to the apartment in response to a report of a disturbance on Jan. 1 at 3:29am.
Upon arriving at the scene, a police officer met with the victim, identified as Saures’ partner.
The victim told police that she was sitting on the curb of the road waiting on the New Year countdown when Saures arrived and allegedly started arguing with her.
The victim said she brought the argument to the back side of the apartment complex so that no one would see them arguing, but Saures allegedly got angrier and punched the victim in the face. Police reported a bruise on the victim’s face.
During a follow-up investigation, it was learned that one of the victim’s children allegedly witnessed the scene.
The 14-year-old child allegedly saw the argument and saw Saures punch the victim and left her unconscious on the ground before taking them away from the apartment.
Saures was arrested at the MIHA housing.
