JRM, stakeholders begin Section 106 consultations

ASAN, Guam—Joint Region Marianas will start Section 106 consultations with stakeholders in Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands for the 2009 Mariana Islands Range Complex Programmatic Agreement.

Consultations will occur in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands at the following dates, times and locations:

– Thursday, Jan. 24 from 4-7pm at Kanoa Resort

– Friday, Jan. 25 from 10am to 12:30pm at the Saipan Mayor’s Office

In accordance with established processes and procedures required under the National Historic Preservation Act, this effort is aimed at ensuring open dialogue with stakeholders to develop a new MIRC PA.

In February, public meetings will be held where all interested individuals may engage directly with Navy environmental subject matter experts on the proposed supplement to the 2015 Mariana Islands Training and Testing environmental impact statement. More information will be shared with the community as soon as it is available.
