Kanoa Football Club is unbeaten in the co-ed U12 division of the 2019 NMIFA Spring Youth League.
Kanoa posted a perfect record this season after downing MP United, 5-3, last Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville. The division champion finished the competition with a 9-0-0 win-draw-loss record, while MP United ended up at third place with its 3-0-6 mark.
Tyler Omelau scored two goals for Kanoa, while Raymond Dejillas, Paul Lizama, and Taehun Han chipped in one goal apiece. Kanoa made all of its four goals in the first half with Dejillas drawing first blood right in the opening minute of the game and Lizama getting on the board in the 15th minute.
A Jim Takeru goal in the 24th minute moved MP United within one, but Omelau’s shot four minutes later gave Kanoa more cushion. MP United then got another goal in the first half, thanks to Ian Song’s goal in the 29th minute. However, Kanoa had the last say in the opening frame when Omelau scored anew a few seconds before the halftime break.
When the game resumed, it was MP United that hit the board first, courtesy of Moshe Sikkel’s goal in the 38th minute. However, Kanoa countered with Han closing out for the division champion in the 58th minute.
Meanwhile, TanHoldings finished second in the final team standings after edging out Shirley’s Football Club, 4-3. in the other match in the division last weekend.
Mark Costales fired two goals for TanHoldings with his second one, giving their team the insurance. Costales’ other goal was registered in the eighth minute and tied the game early, as it came one minute after Jayvin Bisek put Shirley’s on the board.
Monico Claridades then handed TanHoldings its second goal in the 25th minute, but Shirley’s knotted the count anew off Jurvin Bisek’s conversion two minutes later. The seesaw battle continued with Andrei Kaithlyn Chavez’s goal in the closing minutes of the first half putting TanHoldings back on top, 3-2.
After their shaky lead at the break, Costales earned his second goal in the 48th minute, giving TanHoldings cushion. Shirley’s then threatened TanHoldings with Jayvin Bisek’s shot in the 50th minute, but the former eventually fell short in its comeback bid in the second half.
