Council to host first-ever PRIDE Talks

The Northern Marianas Humanities Council will be hosting a film screening and presentations for its first-ever LGBTQ event called PRIDE Talks on June 27, at the Regal Cinemas, from 4pm to 9pm.
The event is free and doors will open at 4pm. The film is rated R (restricted), which means no one under 18 will be admitted due to the graphic content of the film.
The first 100 people will receive a free small popcorn and drink as well as a PRIDE T-shirt. The total seating is for 199, therefore seating is limited.
At 6pm the movie Boy Erased will be screened. Once it ends at 8pm, there will be presentations by Dr. Elizabeth Triche, Daniel Brown, Bishop Ryan Camacho, radio personality DJ Dice, Fr. James Balajadia, and Pastor Raymond Kinsela, with questions and answers to follow each presentation.
The event is meant to create awareness, bring information, show support, and encourage acceptance within the CNMI community.
The film is based on a true story of Jared Eamons, the son of a small-town Baptist pastor, who must overcome the fallout after being outed as gay to his parents. His father and mother struggle to reconcile their love for their son with their beliefs. Fearing a loss of family, friends, and community, Eamons is pressured into attending a conversion therapy program. While there, he comes into conflict with its leader and begins his journey to finding his own voice and accepting his true self.
