The bodies of a Chinese couple who were found dead inside a burned house in As Gonno last Feb. 23 were taken to Guam on Tuesday for cremation yesterday.
Qing Ying Zheng, sister of victim Qing Xiu Zheng, told Saipan Tribune yesterday that their parents will then take the ashes to China by the end of this month.

Qing Ying Zheng, a store manager, said they saw the bodies thrice already, the last one was on Monday, and still they noticed that the victims’ legs are missing.

She said they asked the police why the legs are gone, but they were only told that they’re searching for the legs.

She earlier disclosed that she and the rest of their family were all surprised that her sister’s one leg was missing, while the two legs of her sister’s husband, Guo Huang Xu, were gone.

Asked about why the legs were gone, Department of Public Safety police spokesman Travis Hurst told Saipan Tribune on Tuesday that due to ongoing investigation, and the nature of the case, they are not releasing any information regarding the matter.

Aside from Qing Ying Zheng and her brother and his wife, family members who saw the bodies were the parents of victim Qing Xiu Zheng, and the father of victim Guo Huang Xu.

The family did not allow the couple’s minor children, ages 13 and 5 years old, to see the bodies.

The family is offering a $5,000 cash reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the person or persons behind the killing.

Police have classified the death of the victims as a double homicide. The two reportedly died due to smoke inhalation as a result of the fire that razed their house to the ground.
