The Chalan Kanoa Bears stretched their winning streak to three after beating the Aces, 8-2, last Saturday in the 2019 Saipan Baseball League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfied.

The defending champions went to work in the first two innings to seize control of the game and the Aces never recovered, allowing the Bears to keep their unbeaten record after three matches.

The Bears scored four and three runs in the first and second inning and got their last in the seventh, while the Aces had one run each in the first and sixth. Angel Palacios went 2-for-4 for the Bears and scored only one run, but had three RBIs. J.J. Lifoifoi added two RBIs off his 3-for-4 performance at bat. Henry Lizama also hit 3-for-4 and delivered three runs.

The Aces’ two runs were courtesy of Verlance Secharmedal and Keola Camacho, who reached off the Bears’ errors. The Aces dropped to a 0-2 record.

Meanwhile, Go See Mark and the Mariners prevailed in the two other games last weekend.

GSM improved to a 2-1 card, notching its second straight win following a 13-10 triumph over the Blue Jays (1-1). Last season’s finalist scored three runs each in the fifth and sixth inning to battle back from a 7-8 deficit after four complete. The Blue Jays were held to two runs in the last two innings after making 8 in the first three.

The Mariners made it to the win column after downing the Rockies, 8-5. The Mariners silenced the Rockies in the first two innings to move ahead, 3-1, and added four runs in the fourth inning of the shortened match to secure the win. The last game of the triple-header was played for only five innings due to darkness.
