Toyohisa Asada, Rotary International District 2750 Governor, is thankful to the United States’ for helping Japan after a tsunami hit the country in 2011.

“Six years ago, when Japan got hit by the tsunami, three days later, 20,000 soldiers from the United States brought water, food, and cleaned the airport and the roads,” Asada said in his remarks at the general assembly of the Rotary Club of Saipan at the Hyatt Regency ballroom last Sept. 13, Friday.

Asada was accompanied in this visit by district secretary Yoshichika Iwaki, and assistant district governor Melner Isaac.

Asada also was guest at the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Botanical Garden bus shelter that the Rotary has adopted.

Rotary Club of Saipan president Marcia Ayuyu also exchanged banners with Rotary Club of Guam president Bobbie Leon Guerrero at the Friday meeting.
