Salut shutters down to make way for coffee shop

Filipino restaurant Salut along Beach Road in Garapan has closed down but a specialty coffee shop franchise that is slowly gaining a following in the Philippines will soon open in its place.
Leo Legaspi, a co-owner of Salut, said they effectively shuttered down Salut last August. Among the factors cited for the closure was weakening sales but he didn’t elaborate.
To replace it, Legaspi said they plan to have a grand opening for Daniel’s Coffee Shop in November this year.
He said Saipan would be Daniel’s Coffee Shop’s first overseas location and management is excited to welcome the franchise to the island.
The coffee shop is named after its owner, Daniel Razon, who is a veteran broadcaster and CEO of Philippine-based multi-media company Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International.
It pioneered the concept of a coffee shop in a television studio setup in the country and specializes in cappuccino (renamed Danpuccino), hot beverages, fruit sodas, pastries, and cakes.
According to Filipino lifestyle blogger Rodel Flordeliz, there are five must-try drinks at Daniel’s Coffee Shop: the Matcha Danpuccino, its Daniel’s Summer Special Sago, its Cookies and Cream Danpuccino, the Taro Danpuccino, and Dan Dalandan.
As for the old site of Salut, Legaspi said they will totally renovate the building and part of the change is that their electronics gadget shop, PC Bargain, will also be prominently featured in the makeover.
Currently, PC Bargain, which retails cellular phones, laptops, tablet computers, and other gadgets, is situated at the back of the old Salut establishment.
The original Salut restaurant opened in March 2017 in Chalan Kanoa across Kanoa Resort. It later moved to the old site of JHEMS and even expanded its offerings to include sushi and other Japanese dishes.
