As part of Joeten-Kiyu Public Library’s celebration of its 28th year of serving the community and supporting local authors, the public is invited to the rare opportunity to meet, greet, and chat with several local and published authors over the course of its three-day series of events.

The author events start today, Dec 19, at 4:30pm with an informal question-and-answer session with author Walt F.J. Goodridge, author of over 24 books, including several about Saipan like Chicken Feathers & Garlic Skin: Diary of a Chinese Garment Factory Girl on Saipan, Saipan Living, Saipan Now, From Bugle Boy to Battleship, and There›s Something About Saipan. Goodridge will be answering participant questions and speaking informally on “the wins and woes of being a Saipan writer,” including where ideas come from, how to stay motivated, etc.

Lino Olopai, author of Rope of Tradition, will be the featured guest speaker on Friday, Dec. 20 at 4pm.

There will be an “Author Fair: Meet & Greet” all day Saturday, Dec. 21, from 11:30am to 2pm featuring Jane Mack, Lynn Tenorio, Denita Yangetimai, Olopai, Goodridge and Zaldy Dandan, who is editor of Marianas Variety and author of Die! Bert! Die! & Other Fictions, We’ll Kiss Like It’s Air and We’re Running Out of It, and How I Learned What Really (Probably) Happened to Amelia Earhart. Authors will have books on sale.

The Meet & Greet will be followed by a special guest presentation at 3pm by Mack.

This unique 28th anniversary series of events kicks of today, Thursday, Dec. 19, at 10am with book donations by Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan, and also includes bracelet-making demonstrations, an online scavenger hunt, art classes, Christmas carolers, and much more over the three days! Visit the library for more details or call 235-7323. (PR)
