‘We Are From the Temple’ tonight
In an event that’s intended to showcase the varied talents on Saipan and become a performance space for the CNMI’s many acts, the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe will be playing host today to an event called “We Are From the Temple,” starting at 6pm.
Organized by Jerico Montenejo, 19, the show will feature many talented individuals such as Saipan Music and Dance Studio, 29:11, Kontagious Mindz, Profound Bandits, Neil Fama, Shane Sabino, Felix Rabauliman, and many more.
Montenejo hopes to make this the first of many events that he has lined up for his brand, called Temple: A Canvas to Wear.
With tonight’s show, Montenejo hopes to create a place where everyone know that they are welcome and they shouldn’t be afraid of how they want to express themselves. This is in line with his hope to create a dance studio—an environment for people to express themselves freely.
“This event coming up is a culmination of the entire decade’s worth of work. It brings together people from different backgrounds, but we all come together to feel the need to express ourselves and any form of way. …It is a place of freedom, a place of somewhere that’s unapologetic, and it’s understanding, kind, and loving,” he said.
Montenejo currently works part-time at IT&E, balancing work and college.
