PRIDE Talks writing contest winners

The Northern Marianas Humanities Council congratulates the winners for its first PRIDE Talks Writing Competition for the LGBTQ+ community in the CNMI this June for PRIDE month. The categories for submissions were: poem, essay or short story.
The winners for the competition from each island are:

Tinian
1st Place:
Pedro Manglona, “I Know a Boy” $500
2nd Place: Joseph Hocog, “The Creation of LGBTIQ Pride” $300

Rota
1st Place:
Colin Jay S. Cruz, “Your Out is My Out” $500
2nd Place: Freya Deshae C. Greathouse, “Mirror Image” $300
3rd Place: Jermaine Chloe B. Young, “It’s Okay We’re Normal” $100

Saipan
1st Place:
Leovita Cabrera, “A Crowded Closet” $500
2nd Place: Thomas Manglona, “Gateways” $300
3rd Place: Prudencio Cabrera, “Heels” $100
