MCS offers tech support throughout remote learning
Last Monday, Aug. 17, 2020, Mount Carmel School began its 2020-2021 school year remotely through online learning. As the school prepares to begin face-to-face classes on Aug. 31, 2020, the school has also begun offering more tech support for students and parents. In particular, two teachers, Filmah Buenaflor and Randee-Jo Barcinas-Manglona, will provide parents and students with direct support.
Buenaflor is an instructor for Mount Carmel School’s Algebra courses and Advanced Placement Computer Applications course. She has served as an educator for more than 17 years and has a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Portland, Oregon’s Concordia University. In addition to her years of teaching experience, Buenaflor has continued to use a variety of online tools for instruction since joining the MCS community in 2010. These tools include MIT App Inventor, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Google Applications.
Barcinas-Manglona is not only MCS Composition and Creative Writing instructor but holds a master’s degree in Education Technology. Barcinas-Manglona has helped many of her colleagues during this transition to online learning.
Members of the MCS community can schedule Tech Support Office Hours by emailing filmah.buenaflor@mcsknights.com or rb.manglona@mcsknights.com.
In addition to offering direct support to parents and students, the school is providing electronic devices to students as needed, has upgraded its internet connectivity and bandwidth, and has begun developing other tools to help with learning, such as G-Suite and Google Classroom. (PR)
