Rollers Basketball Association players will return to regular practice on July 7, according to RBA founder and head coach Joe Diaz.

Diaz said the practice sessions will be for RBA’s three divisions—14-and-under, 12-and-under, and 8-and-under—and will be from 4pm to 6pm.

He said the reason RBA pushed back its practice sessions was to give way for the tryouts of the CNMI Men’s and Women’s National Basketball teams that are being formed by the Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation for the 2023 Micronesian Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands. RBA is part of the NMIBF.

Diaz also thanked RBA sponsors Hertz Rental Car and IT&E that made their trip to the recent Summer Heat 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on Tinian possible. He also extended his kudos to coach/manager David Apatang and RBA tournament director Ethan Kwon.

Rollers won three of four divisions in the two-day 3×3 competition hosted by Typhoons Sports Association. RBA won the U20 division, the women’s division, and the U16 division. Rollers came second to Lasso in the U18 age group.

While RBA teams weren’t coached in anyway during 3×3 matches, Diaz still thanked coaches of RBA 5×5 teams for preparing their players for the Tinian competition. Apatang coaches the U18 team, Marlene Lumabi is in charge of the U18 girls, Rollers Black 2 is mentored by Fredrick Litulumar, while Diaz himself handles the U20 and U16 Black 1 teams.

“And we do want to thank all our Rollers parents that are super supportive for our clubs,” he added.

Aside from Diaz and the aforementioned coaches, RBA officials also include president Juan T. Dela Cruz, vice president Norris Kwon, secretary Vern Babauta, and treasurer Fausia Dela Cruz.
