Northern Mariana Islands Tennis Association has named the CNMI team that will see action in the 2022 North Pacific Regional Championships in Guam.
The junior netters that have been named to the Commonwealth team are Jimin Woo, Andy Kim, Ji Hwan “Sam” Ryu, and Sean Lee in the boys 18 division.
Sikkel
The boys 16 division will then have David Kwon, Cody Shimizu, Min Seoung Kim, and Daniel Kang, while the girls 16 division will have Serin Chung, Hye Jin Elliot, Seiyul Hong, and Yebin Shin.
The boys 14 will feature June Yu, Wataru Kadokura, Simon Tang, and Henry Choi. The girls 14 division, meanwhile, includes Irin Chung, Hoo Wang, Savita Sikkel, and Ji Eun “Anna” Kwon.
Kadokura
Making the team in the boys 12 are Nason Wessel, Si Woo Lee, Yutaka Kadokura, and Ki Won Lee with Hannah Chae, Lina Tsukagoshi, Anne Lee, and Jeong Bin Park representing the CNMI in the girls 12.
While the team’s composition has been made, there’s still no definite date when the 2022 North Pacific Regional Championships will finally push through in the U.S. territory.
After being cancelled altogether last year, the competition was originally scheduled for June this year, but was postponed to September because of Guam’s increasing cases of COVID-19. It was pushed back anew from September to November last month, as COVID-19 cases in the neighboring island showed no signs of slowing down.

CNMI junior players that get to go to the North Pacific Regional Championships are determined by their junior ranking that NMITA keeps tabs on. Winners of the NPRC will then go on to compete in the Pacific Oceania Junior Championships in Lautoka, Fiji. Albeit, due to the multiple postponements a trip to the South Pacific late in the year is still a big question mark.
